Renovate defunct micro hydel projects in Upper Siang: AdiSU
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: The Adi Students Union (AdiSU) in a letter to Chief Engineer, Hydropower department urged him to take immediate steps for renovation of all the defunct micro hydel projects in Upper Siang district.
Despite having 13 micro hydropower stations under the hydropower department with adequate capacity to supply electricity to Yingkiong and whole of the district, Upper Subansiri is still reeling under darkness, the Union resented.
Blaming the state Govt and the department concerned for step motherly treatment to the people of the district, the Union further said that developmental activities come to a halt in the area due to lack of adequate power supply.
It urged the CE to intervene into the matter for early renovation of defunct micro hydel power houses of the district and requested him to direct the concerned authority to use the renovation fund judiciously.
In a separate letter to the Director of School Education, the Union appealed him to direct the newly posted teachers at Jengging higher secondary school to join their duty immediately.
The union alleged that Jengging higher secondary school is not functioning smoothly from the date of its upgradation due to shortage of senior teachers. Even the four senior teachers who have been posted against Jengging higher secondary school by state government did not turn up to join their duty till date. The AdiSU also urged the Chief Secretary to return the unused land to public which was donated to the Govt for establishment of the divisional commissioner (East) office and other department at Jaipur, Namsai.
The local people of Namsai had donated 450 acres of land in 1990 for establishment of Commissioner office and other department. However, out of 450 acres only 110 acres has been used for establishment of Polytechnic College, government higher secondary school, FCI Godown and other government establishment by state government and most of the donated land are kept unused.
It appealed to the chief secretary to give direction to the authority to return the unused 340 acres to villagers as per the meeting held in April last.

The demonstration was given by the technicians of Green Energy Ltd., a Dehradun based company.

The entire process was demonstrated in detail. The process essentially consists of anaerobic combustion of biomass. In this step, a precaution has to be taken to ensure that anaerobic conditions are maintained and the biomass is burned to char and not ash. The charred biomass is then cooled and mixed with a binder which may be cow dung or finely sieved soil. Finally the mixture is pulverized and extruded to form briquettes. The briquettes are then sundried for two days before use.
The demonstration was well appreciated by the DC Tawang, HoDs, NGOs and public.
DFO Tawang informed that more demonstrations are to be given to the public to popularize about the forest saving device.Departments such as DRDA and Industries can also popularize this technology through various schemes; hydropower developers and other large organizations may be issued directives not to use firewood for heating and cooking purposes. The briquettes can be procured from the producers and supplied to all their officers, staff quarters and labour camps.

RGU seeks Govt intervention for appointment of regular VC

Syiemliehin in June 2012 which has hampered the university's efforts to become the kind of institution it aspired to be. PPUEA opposes job regularization
ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Papum Pare Unemployed Engineers Association (PPUEA) has appealed to the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA) not to regularize the service of contractual junior engineers.

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: All Sagalee Students’ Union in a letter to Deputy Director of School Education said the middle school Leporiang was upgraded to secondary school in 2008 by state government but the said school is running without subject teacher since its upgradation.
The students of the school are now facing tremendous problem in their education due to shortage of subject teachers.
The union appealed to the DDSE to immediately post sufficient subject teachers at Secondary school Leporiang and threaten to launch movement against the authority if their demand is not fulfilled.

Release the transferred officer

We would like to request the Govt. and the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner to immediately release the Deputy Director (ICDS) Seppa, Lian Moyee, who has been transferred from Seppa to Koloriang under Kurung Kumey District.
Her transfer order had been issued by Govt. vide Order No. SWCD-
However, despite almost a month after issue of the said order, the said officer is yet to be released from Seppa under the pretext of medical leave and with the active support of the Deputy Commissioner. Instead of medical leave, the said officer is found to be running from pillar to post at Itanagar lobbying to cancel her transfer order.
Hence, we request the Govt. and the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner to release the
said officer immediately in public interest and to maintain congenial official-

Basic facilities and Pakke Kassang people
Dear Editor,
Arunachal Pradesh State Transport (APST) Bus Service to Pakke Kessang was flagged off at Itanagar half decade ago by then Pakke Kessang MLA Techi Hemu. After couple of days, the Bus service was withdrawn with a excuse that the road to Pakke Kessang was not in motorable condition.
At present, the road to Pakke Kessang is much better than before, but there is no APST bus service. We urge the department concerned to clarify the matter as the growing population prefer public transport system[APST] more than that of private.
We also request the health minister to look into the poor health care service in Pakke Kessang Health Center due to shortage of doctors and subordinate staff. Out of two doctors, one has been transferred without any reliever which is not acceptable and the other one is busy in training for months together.
Many a times the issue on power crisis in the Pakke Kessang area has been brought to the notice of higher authorities but to no avail. It is hard to believe that despite very near to state capital, Itanagar, the Pakke Kessang Circle is still reeling under darkness.

Revised policy to overcome HIV & TB epidemics
WHO has launched its revised policy on collaborative TB/HIV activities recently. The new policy is based on the latest scientific evidence generated from randomized controlled trials and observational studies in the field of TB and HIV and country experiences implementing the Interim Policy.
The Interim policy provided a highly effective framework for implementing partners and donors to focus their resources. More than 100 countries fully adopted the Interim Policy, measured by HIV testing of at least half of TB patients identified and it is estimated that 910,000 lives have been saved globally.
The increased uptake of the interim policy has resulted in more than 60 per cent of the total number of TB patients estimated to have HIV were diagnosed and registered in HIV care in 2010, compared with less than 15% in 2005.

The new policy emphasises the importance of establishing mechanisms for the delivery of integrated TB and HIV services at the same place and time, as well as promoting integration within other health programmes such as maternal and child health, and harm reduction services.
